the answer to the universe is.... hammocks

They have this little hippie traveler model at Academy Sports And Outdoors for $19.95. We have all the nylon cord you need to stretch it between the trees, don't buy anything but the hammock. We got your trees hanging. If you don't spend some time in a hammock on Saturday you're cheating yourself.

John,
You make a fine spokesperson for the hammock industry, and your well articulated disertation on the benefits of hammock usage has made me rethink my entire hammock-less history. I believe in the right to bear hammocks, by God!

The first year I had no hammocks.
I bought a few.
We went to Mexico and all I claimed was hammocks. I bought two great ones from a cool familia in San Paulo, Brazil.
Last Woodzie I must have had six.

But this year I only have one.
How sad is that? One hammock for God Knows how many people.
Oh, the (in)humanity!
It's just a shame to have so many trees, and so few hammocks.
So - do your part, and bring a hammock if you possibly can.
You WILL be glad you did!!!!

We LOVE our hammock!

stop and remember back to any time you've spent in a hammock. I would be surprised if you'd say you've ever spent a single unpleasant moment in a hammock.

I AM a spokesperson for hammocks. Bring one and you will be, too.

My friends and I were just talking about how great a hammock would be for camping. Brilliant idea!

My buddy Micael Priest mounted a hammock diagonally inside of his ancient Isuzu Trooper and was comfortably living in a friend's driveway in Austin last time I saw him a few years ago.

Hey! This p/o/s Academy hammock's weight-rated at a mere 250 lbs.; what, I ask you, is a real man to do?

John Whipple said...

You have three days to diet, Pat.

Miriam, a hammock is just so wonderful... everybody, call your friends and cousins and see who has one to borrow. Think about anybody you know who has one in their backyard.

I called Academy on I-35 by The Forum and they're down to 4 of the ones in the photo here. They have 6 of the 14.99 rope ones. Those feel great but they just don't last.

I mention that Academy because it's an easy off and easy back onto the highway on the way up there from San Antonio. Also great place to get cheap tents. There's also the one at 410 and Perrin Beitel. WallyWorld doesn't seem to have any low priced hammocks. Target may or Camper's World.

IF someone gets the nylon type we could silkscreen the Woodzie logo on it when you get it up here and you'd have another woodzie collector's item. :)

Hammocks are 100 pesos each down here. Working till I depart tomorrow evening......I'll see what I can find.....

What a great idea!!! Will there be people present and available to sway the giant palm leaf over me while I rest in my hammock??

John Whipple said...

yes we will.

And yes, please score some hammocks down there, that would be great!

just came back to the house to check on the defrosting whole pig. Glenn has Allantown setup all nice and cozy. The Allan's are the winners because he got the first hammock up. Strung between two oaks, pretty as a picture postcard.
