Does A Bear **** In The Woods?

At the 5th Annual Woodzie he does... in style. Leo and Kathy (Kim's parents) are treating all Woodzie bears to three modern portable toilets. It's such a kind thing to do. They are so thoughtful to go to this length to make people comfortable. If you were on the fence about coming because you needed more of the comforts of civilization, now - compliments of our benefactors - you'll have it! We'll have a tip jar, please make a contribution towards the cost because it was a major, major expense. Kathy will be off on business and not with us that day but Leo will be here to except a major toast in their honor!!! Thanks Kathy and Leo!

Those guys are too much. I knew Leo would do it, even after we basically said no.
Thanks guys. Hugs and pass the gravy!

my concern was that it was $300 - THAT'S A HUGE CONTRIBUTION. I know they paid attention last year and saw that it was something that was needed. For the majority of people coming, it's going to make a big overall improvement. They mentioned it right after last year's event and several times over the last year. The hippie force is strong in them; they know exactly what they're doing.

that is so thoughtful. no matter how hippie she is, Woodzie girls' lives have just been made better!!

I'll put some money in the contribution box for sure.

Awwww, it ain't much compared to all the donated time and talent everybody brings to the Woods each year, to say nothing of the expense and effort John and Jimmie pour into the Woodzie. Anyway, Uncle Sam is paying for it with the tax rebate. Much rather spend the money on the local economy than for some gadget from China anyway. And, oh, any contribution you make goes to Next Year's Woodzie - Keep hope alive! See you in the Woods. Leo (dewdawg)

I'm so glad you guys do THE Woodzie. Seems like the nicest group of people I've found on the Internet. I can "pee on any tree" but I'll empty my pockets into the honesty box.

You realize, of course, that this does kinda raise the bar for all future Woodzies. Once we have three modern PortaPotties, will we ever be able to go back?

So I was thinking, we should have title sponsors. A $300 donation, and you'd be the PortaPotty Sponsor. For $100, you're the Keg'o'Beer sponsor. For $50, you'd be the SilkscreenSupplies sponsor. For $10, you'd be a Gallon'o'Diesel sponsor (OK, diesel's only $5-ish, but by this time next year, who knows?).

Can't you see it on the flyers? "H-E-B - 6th Annual Woodzie PortaPotty Sponsor." Except then we'd have that gigantic, scary bag of groceries guy in a suit H-E-Buddy mascot walking around scaring all the children.

Three was the magic number. I originally thought three portajohns was going to be overkill, but we had such a big turnout, we needed them. I had a particularly happy moment whenever I noticed all three being occupied at any one time.

Yeah, that sounds strange out of context. But a lot of things about the Woodzie sound strange out of context...

There was a line in front of all three many times during the night. Not two, not four; exactly three were needed. And the pots were mentioned in the crowd all night. They were brand spanking shiny new. I left the old one to the side for comparison and it made a very dramatic statement: "this is what you were saved from!".

Several of us knew it and told the story whenever people had a compliment about them. Then those people were deputized to tell the story about the donation so it really got out there.

I was telling this older lady that I was so amazed by how right Leo and Kathy had been and she said "That's because they understand infrastructure." I started to laugh because it's just a funny word but then I realized that that was exactly the word. They do understand that, it's that kind of sensibility that they have. Leo and Kathy followed in Uncle Raymond's footsteps and in giving the Woodzie "infrastructure". We have a water line, a wash basin, two electrical circuits, two farm trailers and port-a-potties. We were a city for a day.

Did we put a donation box out? I never saw it.
