Green Woodzie

Usually when there's music coming from a stage there is a fair amount of electricity being used. That's not a bad thing, it just is. This year we are having an additional stage out on the Ridge along with the main stage in the central Woodzie area. We'll have our songwriter's workshop with Jason Wilber out there, followed with performances by some great Woodzie musicians.

Now this stage is far off the grid. Yet we need to power things up a little. The original plan was to use a generator. Sounds good, right? Have you ever heard one? It's a lawnmower engine with a little electric generator attached. So imagine sitting next to a revving lawnmower... Then imagine refilling it with insanely overpriced gasoline every 30 minutes... Not fun. Not Green. Hippie, but not completely.
So, after much research Dr. John and Rev. Glenn found a Green, Enviro, Hippie, Old Man Sensitive Ears, Friendly solution. A battery powered Sound system. Quiet, clean, non-polluting and best of all, it actually works!

Of course we had to lay out a bunch of green for it and we'll have to eat the spent batteries, but it's a small price to pay.
Keith would be proud!

Just to diffuse any concerns about a trail of dead batteries leaching into the groundwater...our units are equipped with rechargable batteries.

And yes, I am an officially ordained Reverend of the Universal Life Church. It's kinda back of the Rolling Stone, but if anyone wants to get married at the Woodzie, it is absolutely 100% legal and binding in Texas, USA.

Yeehaw!!

I take it you got the Alesis gizmo and think it sounds good and loud enough to work. If so, that means no gas and no noise and no moving, failing parts. That's a huge technical step forward. I would so trust that thing before I trusted a generator. Now we have an A plan and a B plan and the generator can be the B plan.

Actually I haven't heard it yet. I need to charge the battery. And being in that store with the boys...is a LOT of fun, but not condusive to any serious shoppng.

Speaking of Sam Ash Music, for all you folks reading this who THINK you're not a musician, they have the most amazing selection of percussion gadgets over there! All kinds of ethnic do-dads and really fun stuff! My fav thing was this very cool beginner steel drum. It comes with a groovy stand, replete with feet shaped feet and all the notes clearly marked. Plus it sounds amazing! Another way cool thing were the digeredoos. I want someone to master circular breathing and show up at the Woodzie with one of those babies!
