visual arts
Jimmie mentioned it earlier today and now I just got off the phone with Deirdre talking about the same thing so... it's a zeitgeist that's likely to happen. We need to get people, kids and adults, to create a work of art at the Woodzie. Any kind of art. There's not a single person who can't create something. And then give it away. Maybe we have two 4x8 sheets of plywood and have tacks and a staple gun there for people to pin up art like poems, drawings, photos, weavings, found object art, any and everything... for others to take as a treasure at the end of the day. Everybody puts things up until 10:00 and after 10:00 and through Sunday morning everybody starts choosing a piece of somebody else's art to take home.

I have lots of beads that can be strung. Don't you think that would be a nice keepsake to take home?
You make it just how you like it and wear it all night, then it's a memory piece forever.
We can also make buttons is people want. I have a machine that makes big buttons - about 2 inches across. You can draw or write anything you want then make it into something to pin on.
I've also always likes the idea of having generic hats, like from the dollar store, and letting people decorate them and wear them all nite then take them home. Wouldn't it be cool to have a sombrero with kazoos and whistles hanging off?
I would like to see people bring something that represents them. A deck of cards, action figure, clock - whatever, and make it part of their hat.
The sticking point for arts and crafts has always been electricity.
John assures me that we can have a table or tent or something for art projects that will include lights and juice enough for hot glue guns.
Anyway, I'm willing to donate all my hoarded art supplies to the cause.
Ill try to score some plain white T shirts, and have everyone who played the Woodzie sign them and draw something on them for some old school keep sakes.
and like Deirdre said to me over the phone, people could write out their song lyrics and tack them up on the Woodzie community board. We need a table nearby it with paper, pens, pencils, sharpies, etc.
Photos would be good so let's expand it to encouraging people to bring items from home, too. I found some letters Woodie Guthrie wrote on the Internet, I'm going to print those out and put them up.
Here's my To Do list for Thursday:
1) Gather art supplies
2) Pick up pig
that's a nice, full schedule.
I might have the t-shirt printer drop the last of the shirts off to you so you can bring them up.
I know you'd like to see the screenprinting thing. I'm still thinking that might happen. We'd need to do it near the water hose. I have a big table for it.
People need to come in funky old clothes that they don't mind getting messy.
I'm thinking we could cut some stencils and use some paint rollers and print on old paper bags. Doing a rough stencil print of the Woodzie Chick in white ink on cardboard colored paper would be a frameable piece of art.
Woodzie Muse 1 reporting in for the midweek internet check from south o'de border....have already packed my "truck". Including art supplies for drawing and fabric paints. Also packed face paints - several kits - fun stuff to wear, variety nail polish and glitter make-up. I see you have expanded the art side of this gig. I have other supplies....we'll see what I can get together.
Mucho Gusto con Amore'!!
