Newbies to the Woodzie always ask what to expect. I'd like to say "the unexpected" but that's not true - it's actually very predictable. Very family orientated. Expect to be hanging around meeting new people, eating some of every other family's favorite covered dish recipe while listening to people sing songs they've written. It's a great combination of things to do. What holds the vibe together is this peaceful little meadow in the woods. It's a throwback to Reality 1.0 when people used to get together to just enjoy each other's company in the great outdoors. Somebody should make a video game out of it. We never know exactly how many people are coming, we always seem to get about a hundred but we could handle two hundred. With this being our first big anniversary, I think everyone agrees that we'd like to see it bigger this year. Everybody is deputized with the authority to bring new friends. That's one reason it's important to bring food, it makes it scalable where we don't have to really know exactly how many are coming.
This is what to expect as far as the lay of the land and what your campsite can be like. This is from up on the rise looking down at the meadow. That meadow will be populated with people on the 3rd. If you are more adventurous, move further out into the woods to make camp.

Or you can do what Casey does and have a "compound" of tables and chairs for a little party within a party. We have all the room in the world for anything you want to bring. Tarps, gazebos, hammocks, bicycles, air mattresses... People often say afterwards "I wish I had thought to bring.." Think about that now and go ahead and bring it.

so we're not just bringing picnic food for our family but for a buffet table that everybody shares?
I just added a post about that - check it out it's at the top. Yeah, this thing's a third about camping in the country, a third about great live music and 90% about the food. I'm of the opinion that if we all work together we can achieve a little county fair style thing where people show off what they can cook. People want an outlet to do that. Maybe we have a couple of blue ribbons to award. But the bottom line is that the more we talk about the food in advance, the better it'll be.
now that we're all old and fat, food is the new drug.
but Ann, that's not to say that you don't bring a cooler full of pic-a-nic stuff to have at your campsite for your family. Do both if you want.
There's no requirements. It's just fun to have a communal food table. We'll have the pits fired up to cook anything you bring raw.
I only have one hammock that's operational this year, so bring one to string between the trees if you have it.
We have a large number of chairs and picnic tables but most folk bring folding chairs, too.
