like what's going to change and what's going to stay the same. What would make it better that's not too hard to do? What did you like in past years that you want to make sure isn't forgotten? We want to keep it mostly the same but grow it a little. It's the participation in making this communal thing happen that's the most fun. Join in!
LIKE Chris makes the P.A. and recording happen. He makes the live Internet feed happen. That's his problem solving power being blended into the mix. The spirit of this thing is not waiting to be entertained but people independently making interesting music and other interesting things happen. Hippie style meaning pretty funky and without spending any money. What is your thing? Come here and add it to the mix.
Glenn and I are hosting a walk around the Woodzie site this Sunday at 5:00 if anybody wants to come up. We're going to be wrapping our heads around how to make ideas work that people have floated out there this year.
Ideas that have been really cool in the past have been the kid's playground and Jimmie's walk out to the sunset. We need those kind of community ideas. They're best when they don't start with "you should" but instead with a "I could bring a..." or "I could setup and lead a..." :)
The Woodzie is small enough that we can keep edging it towards becoming more of a mini lifestyle festival. Not just music but food and crafts and show and tell. Toss out some ideas and lets make some progress in that this year.

"HOSTING"....I thought we were just walking around in the woods!
Does that mean I have to wear pants now?
Does anyone have a bouncy castle?
yeah, we have to wear our hostess uniforms.
Port-a-potty! I'm posting this anonymous because I speak for the crowd of anonymous non-camp hardy women standing in front of the 1950's port-a-potty last year thinking that we girls would really appreciate a modern one. Is that possible?
Anything is possible if you pay for it!
Yeah, I called a while back and it's $101 a day but they'll bring it Friday and leave it through Monday for the one day price. And... it's ventilated and smells like flowers. If we do it we'll make that one for women's and the old one the men's. If the men go in there it won't smell like flowers anymore. Guys pee in the woods anyway. Expect Mike Fletcher if he's had too many Cosmos.

I'm gettin' this stuff and setting up my permanent home out on the ridge. I need a place closer to Riley's anyway.
You can get five gallon plastic cans at Lowes or Home Depot for a few bucks. A heavy duty plastic garbage bag for a liner and you're all set. The lids are air/water tight. Use it in the privacy of your own tent, snap on the lid, store it behind your tent.
Live simply! Live happy!
Well, I've never woodsie'd before - but I definetely vote for a port-a-potty, lots of bug spray, and some of those misty water thingies in case it is hot.
Told ya' I'd look at your website.....
CA Karen
I had a great time walking the woodz yesterday J&J. (Even though we couldn't get a decent Cape Cod!)
But before I forget, My family and I (especially Will) would like to very much give John and Jimmie Whipple our most heartfelt thanks for pulling this off every year. Inviting 100+ people over to their place at great risk to themselves and their property. For Buying, out of pocket, a crazy amount of t-shirts, two kegs of beer, 50 pounds of chicken and lots of other food. Electricity, water and too many other minor expeses to even imagine.
Then spending a month before the event clearing brush and trees, making nice camping spots for everyone, setting up BBQ pits, chairs and picnic tables, a big stage for the music, setting up this blog, designing artwork sending emails and generally stressing over a LOT of stuff.
It's and INSANE amount of work!
Thank you.
Thanks, Glenn. We're just glad for the fact that we have enough good friends to be able to do it. And we appreciate the extra help we're getting this year. It's going to be a good one.
That's my friend Karen from California. Her idea of camping is going to the Motel 6 instead of the Wynn.
She's afraid of crickets. (tee-hee)
But we love all of God's creatures - civilized or not. So I'm hoping she'll brave the woods at night to be with us.
Getting ready for the Woodzie is one of my favorite things. I love clearing brush and making the tshirts and planning food. Everything!
Believe me, if we didn't want to do it, we just wouldn't!
It's hard to explain how magical it is to have people come together for music and food and friendship at our place. We absolutely love it here. And we're honored to share it with any peaceful soul that's willing to brave the elements with us.
Elephants? Nobody said anything about elephants... :(
Yes, you must brave the elephants!
note to self... have Will Allan collect some crickets to be put to highly entertaining use later.
Will be nice to meet you all and spend some quality time with you ....and your elephants....and your crickets!
Karen from California....if living amidst "the elephants" becomes too stressful, you are welcome to de-stress at the Woodzie Muses Pagoda....this is a standing offer for everyone. If there are no Muses present when you enter, just relax and make your self at home.....lay amidst the cush-cush and splash lavender oil on yourself, hug one of the teddy bears (pretend it is your inner child!), play with the toys, paint your face, blow bubbles.....or pick out a kite and go to the ridge and fly baby...letting all the bluesy boo-boo you allowed into your head to just fly away!!!
